Yamaha SV-130 Violin, Gold Sparkle Review

With the introduction of the SV-130, the latest iteration of the the instrument that launched the "silent" violin revolution now has a built-in 1/4" output jack, in place of the 1/8" adapter that the earlier models (Yamaha SV-100, SV-110 and SV-120) used. The chinrest is molded plastic, built into the body, so you can't change it out if the design of this chinrest isn't comfortable to you. The shoulder rest also can't be changed; the instrument uses a modified half/three-quarter size Kun, so the pad can be small for some players, and the height and angle can't be adjusted as much as some other shoulder pads. If you need to use your own shoulder pad, consider the Yamaha SV-150 if the instrument is mainly for "silent" practice; for performance, or if you also need to change the chin rest, choose the Yamaha SV-200. Comes from Yamaha in a heavy corrugated shipping box, and includes earbud headphones, an auxiliary output cable, shoulder rest, and owner's manual.
